This months hot topic - Lungworm!!
First the Bad News
We would like to take this opportunity to alert you to your dog's increasing risk from lungworm. This is the only UK parasite which is potentially fatal to your dog. For specific information see our lungworm handout or visit www.lungworm.co.uk
Now the Good News
Since late 2010 we now have available a licensed product to prevent this parasite causing disease in your dog. By applying this easy to use spot-on we can prevent lungworm and also fleas, mites, roundworms and lice in on on your dog. See below.
The cost to you for a fully integrated parasite prevention programme is less than the products we currently have available.
However it is important to remember that no single product can prevent all the parasite risks, which threaten both humans and our canine companions.

If you have answered 'Yes' to any of the above questions, we recommend you follow these integrated parasite prevention strategies which will minimise your use of medications and maximise parasite protection
Parasite Prevention Strategies
Monthly Spot-On Treat against lungworm, fleas, mites, roundworms, lice
Twice Yearly Treat against tapeworm. Between treatments do check your dog's faeces for rice grain like tapeworm segments.
Tick Awareness Even if you are currently using either a tick killing or a tick repelling product, we alway recommend that you check through your dog's coat daily and remove any attached ticks safely with a tick hook.
In low risk situation we recommend the use of the above monthly spot-on and removing any attached ticks daily with a tick hook
In high risk situation,i.e. you have a local tick infestation ( usually Spring and Autumn) or travel to a known Lymes Disease area, we recommend a tick repellent spot-on. This medication is fatal to cats and must be applied carefully to your dog
